CHAGHAN LAKE
Also known as Chaghanaor,the lake is located in northwestern
Qianguo County, Songyun City.Covering an area of 420 square kilometres , it is
one of the 6 largest fresh water lakes in China and the largest inland lake in
Jilin Province .It stretches 37 kilometres from north to south and 17
kilometres from east to west, boasting a water storage capacity of 650 million
cubic meters. Its water depth averages 2.5 meters, with the deepest place
reaching 6 meters.
CLAY FOREST IN QIAN’AN
About 35 kilometers west of the county seat of Qian’an , Songyuan City,the Clay Forest borders Dabusu Lake in the west and is 50 meters higher than the lake.It measures 15 kilometers from north to south and covers 58 square kilometers .A myriad of clay columns tower to form a forest and steep clay cliffs vary in shape, giving viewers a thrilling feeling.
The Wolf Teeth Dike, with flourishing flowers , strange grass and a lake filled with reeds, is haunted and inhabited by migrant birds, wild rabbits, foxes, wild wolves and snakes. Flowing from the dike is clear, transparent spring water, which contains mineral substances medicinal for many diseases. Having been unearthed here is a great number of stone wares, potteries, bronze wares, ancient weapons, ancient coins and ornaments, testifying that early in the Neolithic Age this place was inhabited by human beings.
RIMED TREES
The rimed trees of Jilin are extolled as one of the 4 major natural wonders of China .Because of the exceptional geographical and climate conditions, when winter falls, the vapor rising from the surface of the Songhua River Freezes when it meets the branches of pines and willows ashore. In a blast of winter, the silver thread glitter in the world of whiteness and encrusted with layers upon layers off frost and snow, the tree branches and twigs look like white clouds and snow waves and form a spectacular crystal fairyland that never fails to attract visitors. The Wusong ( Rimed Trees) Island in the northern part of Jilin City, 30 kilometres from the Jishu Highway and 4 kilometers north of Wulajie Town , is an idealees, taste destination where tourists can visit the Manchu Folk Museum, view scenic wonders of rimed trees,taste local delicacies and sing and dance with the Manchu people.
A FAIRYLAND OF ICE AND SNOW AND SKIING RESORTS
Thanks to the long period of snow, fine quality of snow and proper temperate ,Jilin has established many skiing resorts, all located near cities.When winter falls, the vast seas of forest on Changbai Mountain are covered by ice and snow, presenting the most enchanting picture in North China.
