TAAT CAVE
Taat Cave is another cave within Lake Kenyir shrouded in secrets of the past. Once comprised of 3 lesser caves , the lowest being the Tok Bidan Cave has long been submerged underwater by the creation of the dam . When water levels are high, Taat faces the same fate, as it too , is immersed by the lake.
Popular for its impressive and fascinating stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and sizes, akin to beautiful marble, is a gallery of natural art creatively carved by Mother Nature. A journey by boat will take approximately 2 hours from Gawi Jetty . Explorers can unearth the mysteries of the cave and seek to feast their eyes on the natural wonders of Taat Cave.
BEWAH CAVE
Bewah Cave , situated in Bewah Hill is home to many species of nocturnal animals and insects the cave. Bewah Cave is the largest cave with an entrance arching 40 meters above the water level. It holds many mysteries yet to be discovered . In the 1970's , archaeologists made interesting discoveries in the cave , uncovering skeletal remains of a prehistoric human and primitive artifacts used during the Stone age such as pots , axes and eating utensils. Other prehistoric skeletal remains recently found in the area were carbon dated to be 16000 years old, making this Bewah Man" the oldest skeleton ever found in the country.
