Located in the heart of the busy Mount road , overlooking the Adyar river, is Chennai's most popular golf course,Cosmopolitan Club. Built in the late 1930s, with the greens spread over an area of 80 acres, it was inaugurated by the Governor General of India , Hon'ble Victor Alexander Hope, 2nd Marquess of Linlithgow.
This is a relatively short course, but makes up for it with its clever design , bunkering and overhead cover. Some of the fairways are extremely narrow with heavy tree cover and strategic play often decides a good or a great game here.
the club house here has an excellent 19th hole . A must visit is the refreshment hut at the 8th -9th hole junction , which serves sumptuous South Indian fare.
It also has a well stocked pro shop with golf clubs on hire.
