Spread over 150 acres, Kodaikanal Golf Club , located 6kms southwest of the main city , is nestled amidst dense forests, gurgling streams and wooded hills at an elevation of 2200m.
This golf course abounds in wildlife, so do not be surprised if you are greeted by a wild board at the 4th hole or a barking deer bounding across the 8th fairway.
This club was founded in 1895, when 12 golf enthusiasts posing as hikers came across this verdant grassland and thought it best suited golf. The club still follows its age-old tradition of the new Captain , driving into office off the first tee. Earlier , the captains would rotate between an Indian , American or a Commonwealth citizen , but now only Indians are eligible for this post.
Each hole at this picturesque golf course teats your skill, especially the steep slopes and the strong breeze seasoned golfer too!
