Digboi Golf Club Links is set amidst lush tea estates and thick forest . It is the first 18 hole golf course to be established in Assam , while the first oil well in Asia was drilled here in 1901. The club is surrounded by the Deihing Forest Reserve on 3 sides, so you need not be surprised if you see a wild boar, or a leopard cross the greens as you play!
Established in 1930 by the British , the course was shifted to its present location in 1943 as a par 70 course. The present course is par 72 and its longest hole measures 530 yards. Its shortest hole, measuring only 127 yards, is called "Stairway to Heaven"
The fifth hole has an airstrip, which was constructed during the World war II. The 11th hole has an oil well called " Captain 's Well 992". as the well was inaugurated by Golf Captain , while the 17th hole is named "Hornbill Haunt" , as hornbills are seen frequenting this hole. Also , do not miss a game at the 18th hole because it has one of the tallest trees on a golf course in India.
