ROOTS AND
CULTURE
GO ON A
JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY AND FIND THE ROOTS OF ALL HUMANITY
It was here
4 million years ago in the Cradle of Humankind, where all our stories began.
The fossil remains of humanity’s primitive ancestors endure endure today both
as mesmerizing objects of investigation by scientists and an awe- inspiring
reminder to the rest of us that it was the ancient nomads of Africa that
peopled the world, journeying from the southern tip of this great continent to
create a vibrant mix of people across all continents and of all cultures.
The
infectious spirit of ancient Africa endures in places such as Mapungubwe. A
metropolis in the iron age forgotten for more than seven centuries before being
discovered again in 1933 with the findings of the largest archaeological gold
collection in sub Saharan Africa.
It endures in Limpopo Province with the
powerful Rain Queen Modjadji and her line of successors that bring life to this
almost mythical region. So too into the hauntingly beautiful Zulu battle fields
where Shaka once reigned supreme and where the soul of this beautiful land was
contested and forged for many generations to carry forward. You can see the
enduring heritage of the proud Zulu Nation through their rites, their dance and
the age old flavours of their food that have been passed down for centuries and
preserved at our many Zulu cultural villages.
While
capturing the essence of your roots though a reflection of bygone days, the
people of South Africa also envelope all that is modern. Share in their diverse
passions as they express them in a fusion of sights and sounds, arts and
crafts, aromas and tastes, dance and song, architecture and technology.
Diversity is South Africa’s proud legacy and you are invited to become part of
celebration of all nations, all cultures and all creeds by meeting those that
call his home.
