TURKEY HATAY - ACTIVITY & CUISINE

CAMPING AND PICNIC GROUNDS

There are plenty of areas in Hatay that are suitable for camping or just to spend a day outdoors enjoying the beauty of the countryside and its nature : in Iskenderun, Belediye Tourist Camping, Karaagac Camping and Gulcihan Camping , in Samandag, Beskardesler Camping and Batiayaz ( teknepinar ) Plateau in Erzin, Ormanici Park in Reyhanli, Yenisehir Laje in Belen, Guzelyayla ( Sogukoluk) , Sarimazi , Nergizlik and Atik in Dortyol , Kuzuculu and Yayladgi .

CUISINE

All the beauties , forms , flavours and colours of Hatay are reflected in the local cuisine, which is quie elaborate and inviting . Local specialities include dishes with names like oruk, occe, eksili borulce ( black –eyed peas) , beyaz kabak boranisi ( a dish of squash , rice  and yogurt ), cevizli biber ( muhammara, a dish of walnuts and peppers ), bakla ezmesi ( a pasta made from broad beans) , humus ( a paste made from chickpeas) and nazli et yemegi * a meat stew ). Top your meal of with one of the delicious local desserts such as Kunefe or tas kadayif.

-Tried delicious local tastes humus and kunefe

-bought Hatay’s famous laurel soup define sabunu and silk embroidery
