THE WOODEN TSERKVAS IN THE
POLISH CARPATHIANS:
1.
BRUNARY WYZE – the parish
church of St Michael the Archangel from 1797. Its interior surprises the
visitors with opulence in decoration -excess characteristics of BARAQUE, here
executed in a provincial manner.
2.
CHOTYNIEC – the parish church
of the Nativity of the Mother of God from 1600.This is one of the few wooden
Greek – catholic churches in Poland which are active sites of worship at
present.
3.
KWIATORI –the parish church of
St. Paraskevi from the 17th century. This Lemko Greek –catholic
Church has its walls covered with unusual frescos imitating marble columns and
cornices.
4.
OWCZARY the parish church of Protection of the Mother
of the God from 1653. Among the church fittings from the 17th and 18th
centuries, the most precious element is the intricately carved and gilded
iconostasis.
5.
POWROZNIK -the parish church of
St Jacob the Younger from the early 17th century. This church
represents the West Lemko style and it contains unique and well preserved
polychrome paintings and decorations from the 18th and 19th
centuries.
6.
RADRUZ - the parish church of
St Paraskevi erected around the year 1583. This is the oldest wooden Greek
–Catholic Church in Poland surviving to this day. Not a single nail was used in
the construction of this church.
7.
SMOLNIK – the parish church of
St Michael the Archangel built in the years 1801-1803 .Its interior polychrome
frescos from 1898 and it is a unique example of merging elements of folk
tradition and religious painting.

TURZANSK – the parish church of
St Michael the Archangel built in the year 18011803.Its interior displays
polychrome frescos from 1898 and it is unique example of merging elements of
folk tradition and religious painting.
