INDIA ORCHHA
The beautiful central Indian landscape is exquisitely
showcased at Orchha. Entered by a gate crowned with a red Ganesh, Orchha’s name
is singularly appropriate. With the rugged landscape broken by gentle springs
which emerge every few kilometers, the natural splendor of the area comes alive
with monuments, palaces, chatris and temples that lie scattered all over often emerging
from the most unexpected places. An easy going and relaxed atmosphere engulfs
the space which envelops the visitor in a welcoming calm. Each of these is a
surprising delight with many examples of the Bundela art strewn across walls.
At sunset, vultures peer down from the temple tops as the Hindusim followers
drifting in to chant incantations to Lord Rama, who they believe lives and
breathes in Raja Ram temple.
