GAJAYANA STADIUM
This stadium is
located on Gelanggang Street –Malang as pride stadium for Malang society which
has built long time ago, Major Buse Make instructed to build the stadium in
1926.
From this data it can be said that it is the oldest stadium in Indonesia.
After this stadium has built, the new stadium stood such as Tambaksari Stadium
located in Surabaya (1940).Gelora Bung Karno located in Jakarta (1962).
The
original name of the stadium was Malang stadium instead of Gajayana Stadium. In
EBES Sugiyono leadership era( 1978-1987) the name of Malang Stadium changed to
Gajayana Stadium. Gajayana was Kanjuruhan King.
The stadium is quite big which
has 30000 seats used as headquarters Arema and Persema when they do the
football match. It is also used for the variety even like music concert.
Recently ,Malang
city city government has initiatives to renovate the area as sport
entertainment center like MOG (Malang Olympic Garden).One of the tourism icons
that never vanished with continues renovation is the Tugu market(Sunday market).This
market is held once in a week provide all the Malang society need start from
clothers, household needs and beverage.
