MALAYSIA PENANG - NATURE PLACE

PENANG NATIONAL PARK

Located in Teluk Bahang,the park covers an area of 1226 hectares of dipterocarp, highlands ,mangroves, beaches  and rocky coastline. A rare meromictic lake as well as more than 1000 plant species and a variety of wildlife can be found here. The Penang Turtle Sanctuary is also located here where there have been sightings of green sea turtles and Olive Ridley turtles coming to lay their eggs.

TROPICAL FRUIT FARM

Located in Teluk Bahang, 21 km from George Town , this 25 acre farm grows more than 250 types of tropical and sub tropical fruits that are not only delicious but also rich in natural vitamins,minerals and fibre. They include rambutans, mangosteens , pineapples, papayas and of course the king of fruit ,durian .Farm tours are offered, together with fresh fruit juices, as well as barbecue lunch or dinner.

PENANG HILL

At 830 m above sea level, the hill, also known as Bukit Bendera or Flagstaff Hill,is popular for its cool , fresh climate as well as panoramic views of George Town, the Straits of Malacca an even the mainland.Access to the hill is provided by the Penang Hill Railway , a funicular railway which climbs to the top from Air Itam.There are also hiking routes leading up the hill. A leisurely hike takes from 2 to 3 hours.

BATU FERINGGHI

Batu Feringghi is the most popular beach destination in Penang. With its stretch of golden sand, this beach is the focal point of resorts, water sports , leisure activities and shopping. The scenic backdrop of large granite boulders, fine sand and calm waters make this an idyllic relaxation spot. Its atmosphere with scores of restaurants, watering holes and recreational spots, coupled with a lively nigh market, is highly infectious and irresistible.

TROPICAL SPICE GARDEN

Set out over 8 acres of secondary jungle in Teluk Bahang overlooking the Straits of Malacca, the garden has more than 500 species of tropical flora and fauna. Different trails introduce more than 100 varieties of spices and herbs, and exotic flora, including ferns and orchids.Througout the garden are themed Garden Rooms with special plant collections accompanied by educational signage.

PENANG BOTANIC GARDENS

Popularly known as the “Waterfall Garden”, the 30 hectare Penang Botanic Gardens was established in 1884.Besides being an arboretum of living plant specimens; it also facilitates botanical conservation, education and training. Walking around the gardens, visitors can view the Pinang Palm from which the island got its name, a variety of orchids and ginger plants, among many other tropical plant species.

PENANG BIRD PARK

Located in Bandar Seberang Jaya, this 5 acre park is an oasis of serenity featuring beautiful aviaries in naturally tropical environment. More than 300 species of bird from Malaysia and around the world make their home here, including pelicans , storks , herons and waterfowls .The roam freely around the ponds, waterfalls and gardens which features a variety of plants including orchids and hibiscus.
