1. WEST LAKE & TRAN QUOC PAGODA
With a shoreline of 17km , Tay Ho, or West Lake , is the capital's largest lake. Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi's oldest Buddhist temple, dates back to the 6th century and is known for the intricacy of its design. The Bodhi tree in the garden is said to have been grown from a cutting of the very tree under which Buddha found enlightenment.
The area around the lake has become hotspot for Hanoi's culinary aficionados.
2. COT CO TOWER
As a later edition to the Hanoi Citadel Complex, this 3 tiered flag tower was built in 1905 and offers excellent views of the surrounding area. It is located on the grounds of the Military Museum and at 33.4 metres tall , offers a grand view of what is left of the once mighty Hanoi Citadel.
The towers lets the sun shine in through its 36 flower shaped and 6 fan shaped windows.
opening hours : Open every day ( except Monday & Friday) 8.30 am to 5pm
entrance fee : VND 40000
