INDIA ODISHA BHUBANESWAR CITY

Bhubaneswar owes its name to the incarnation of Lord Shiva, known as Tribhubaneswara or the " Lord of Three Worlds". The city was the capital of ancient kingdom of Kalinga, which was captured by Emperor Ashoka in 261 , only . Believed to have housed more than 7000 temples in the past, only 500 are now extant. Though the city is accelerating towards  commercial modernization, it has still managed to retain its ancient heritage.

This modern capital city of Odisha, was officially established in 1946. The city has been ahead of its time with the introduction of city planning, that was done by the German architecture genius Otto Konigsberger. Apart s from temples, Bhubaneswar boasts of a rich variety of crafts like applique, cane furniture, Ikat sarees , bidri work ,etc.

Over the year, Bhubaneswar has emerged as an IT hub to major organisations like Wipro, TCS, Infosys and Satyam. Banking , real estate and insurance sectors are also booming in the city.

Along with the cities Puri and Konark , Bhubaneswar forms the " Golden Triangle', locally called "Swarna Tribhuja", "The city of temples", it is among the most visited cities
