The cultural capital of India, Tamil Nadu is the cradle of one of the oldest living civilizations in the world. The rich and diverse art forms, literature , temple architecture , festivals, classical music and dance dating back some 2000 years showcase the cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu. It is a land where traditions of by gone era continue to find expression till date and co-exist with modernity in perfect harmony.
Though Tamil Nadu is a highly developed state, majority of the population still live in the villages with agriculture as their primary source of sustenance. The society being agrarian in nature, adherence to traditional value system, rituals and customs are highly pronounced and practised in par with the law of the land. Temple and religion play a very definitive roll in the lives of the rural Tamil folks. Be it celebrations or mourning, the entire community is involved with it. The community is closely knit and there is not a day,that passes without festivity.
