INDIA TAMIL NADU - MADURAI ( THINGS TO DO)

1. FLOWERS & VEGETABLES MARKETS 
As the city off markets , Madurai is known for the trade of flowers and vegetables. A visit to the central flower market is a treat to your visual and olfactory senses. Keeps your eyes open for the riot of colours and your nostrils for the heady mediey of fragrance!

2. YANAIKAL FRUIT MARKET
A century old centralised fruit market at Yanaikal in the heart of the city , functions round the clock. Stroll about in the dead of night and witness truck loads of fruits from the across the country being bought and sold.

3. NATURE
Take a birding trip to the tanks of Avaniyapuram in the outskirts of the city. Madurai is home to a number of resident and winter migratory birds. In the migratory season, one may witness roosting of Open Bill Storks at the Vettangudi Bird Sanctuary, Tirupathur/

Though a bustling city , Madurai offers islands of greenery and peace amidst its chatic streets, for you to talk a leisure walk - Race course stadium , Vandiyur Tank and Eco Park.

4.  TIRUMALAI NAYAK PALACE
Watch the Sound & Light show at the Madurai Tirumalai Nayak Palace and relive the royal glory of the times of the illustrious king Tirumalai Nayak. The unique 16th century palace marks a new ear of architecture in  the Indo-Saracenic style of South Indian palaces. Open all days 9 am to 5 pm.

5. SANGAM ART GALLERY 
Madurai is the seat of Tamil learning and culture and boasts of a World Tamil Sangam. Visit the Sangam Art Gallery to understand the cultural ethos of Tamils and go around the Sangam building to find the 1330 kurals ( couplets) of the Tirukkural, the second most translated literary work in the world, next only to Holy Bible.

6. GANDHI MEMORIAL MUSEUM
Visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum and have a date with the Mahatma. The first of all the six Gandhi museums in the country, the Madurai museum houses some of the original/ replicas of items used and worn of the Mahatma.
