INDIA TAMIL NADU - KARUR

1. SRI KALYANA PASUPATHEESWARAR TEMPLE
Entering the temple, the stone made Flag post Kodimaram greets the devotee. One side of the Kodimaram has the sculpture of King Pugazh Chola Nayanar with his hand holding a head on a plate.
The other side has the sculpture of a cow licking the Shivalinga from its rear legs under its milk organs. The 100 pillar Mandapam is called Pugazh Chozhar Mandap. This is one of the 5 capitals of the Chola Kings. There  is also a shrine for lord in inner prakara and shrines for Mother Mahalakshmi and Lord Arumugha. This is a very ancient temple renovated by emperor Mushukunda.

2. SADASIVA BRAHMENDRA TEMPLE
Sadasiva was born to a Telugu couple Moksha Somasundara Avadhaani and  Parvati. His initial name was Sivaramakrishna. Sadasiva lived in Kumbakonam, near Tamil Nadu in the 17th to 18th century . After taking sannyasa, he is said to have performed many miracles while alive. On the river banks of Cauvery in Mahadhanapuram, he was asked by some children to be taken to Madurai, more than 100 miles away for an annual festival . The saint asked them to close their eyes and found they were in Madurai. The next day, another youth , incredulous at hearing this story., asked Sadasiva to take him also to this festival. It is said that the youth immediately found himself in the distant city. When it was time to return, Sadasiva was nowhere to be found .

3. THANTHONI MALAI TEMPLE
This temple is also popularly known as "Then Thirupathi ( Thirupathi of the south). Lord Thirupathi Venkatachalapathi himself has his abode in this holy place and he blesses his devotees. Lord Perumal of the temple is a swayambumurthi on a big rock in a standing posture. Devotees offer sandals as a contribution to the temple. One of the most sacred and sanctified of them is the Thanthondrimalai . here the devotee s pray for wedding and child boons and Lord responds without fail to their prayers. r , Devotees perform abishek and Sandal Alankara to Lord. They celebrate wedding festival here and offer butter , sandal , vastras light lamps , tulsi garlands.

4. VENNAIMALAI MURUGAN TEMPLE
While in deep meditation Yogi Bhagvan had the luck of having the Darshan of Lord Muruga and was instructed to make it known to all that he was in Vennaimalai hills. The Yogi immediately informed Lord's wish to Karuvur King who immediately built a Mandap under the tree and installed Lord Balasubramaniar. Lord Brahmma became proud of his profession of creating the world and the beings. Lord Shiva wanted to teach a lesson to him. At a stage, Brahmma could not continue his creation job. He realised his folly and begged Shiva's pardon. He was advised by Lord Shiva to perform penance in Vanjivanam. Meantime , the creation job was entrusted to be divine cow Kamadenu. Kamadenu created a hill of butter and also a spring with sweet water to protect all the beings from thirst and hunger.
