Lucknow Golf Club, established in 1950, is located near the heart of Lucknow city between Martinpurva( now an urban village named after the 18th century Frenchman , Claude Martin, founder of la Martiniere College) on one side, and Kalidas Marg on the other side.
The course spreads over 70 acres and has lush green fairways with big trees and lakes.
Before 1947, it was a part of the united Services Club and had its headquaters at the Chhatar Manzil. It is believed that the course originally had 9 to 12 greens and ropes were thrown around to ward off cattle that would stray into the course. after independence , the club shut down.
In 1958, some golfers came together and under the patronage of the then state governor Homi Mody, the Golf Club came to be known as Raj Bhawan Golf Course ( name after Raj Bhawan , the official residence of the Governor)
Today , the club has grown by leaps and bounds and offers golfing facilities at par with international norms. It also boasts of a club house with 2 multi cuisine restaurants, a bar and banquet facilities.
LGC has also hosted PGA tournaments , besides local competitors.
