Portugal Tomar- The Arches

From the original construction only a few isolated arches survived and the remaining arches were     incorporated in the adjacent buildings. The buildings were ordered by Prince Henrique " O Navagador"  in the first quarter of the fifteenth century on the main street of Tomar to provide accommodations for merchants and other outsiders. By the mid nineteenth century, some of its porches were still used by farriers.
