1.ROCK FORT
The rock fort temple standing tall at 83 m is an embodiment of limitless imagination of the human mind and the beauty of nature. The rock is said to be one of the oldest formations in the world. It is 3.8 billion years old, making it as old as the rock in Greenland and older than the Himalayas. The rock out temple in the hill temple complex built during the Pallava era consists of the Manikka Vinayakar temple at the foot of the hill, the Ucchi Pillayar Temple at the top of the hill , both dedicated to Lord Shiva, has a lingam which is a projection of the rock itself. It is reached by a flight of steps on the way to Ucchi Pillayar Temple. At the foot of the Rock Fort is a tank and a pavilion which are used during the float festival of the temple. Exhaustive shopping can be done around the rock temple. This majestic rock monolith stands in the heart of the city and dominates the skyline.

Standing as an epitome of architectural beauty, the Srirangam temple is the biggest temple in the world with a spread out in 156 acres of land. It is impossible to fathom the magnitude of the temple and its magnificence in a day but this marvel arouses the sentiments in a man and its ornate beauty will remain with you all your life. It has 20 temple towers built during 15th -17th century and the main tower built during 1987 is the tallest in asia which is 13 tiered and 256 ft height. The temple includes a grand hall of 1000 beautifully sculptured pillars.
The Ranganathaswamy temple is located in the island of Srirangam , with its ethnic agraharams, sacred beliefs, rituals and year long festivities is always bustling with colourful activity.
Sri Ramanujacharya , was a theologian , philosopher and scriptural exegete. He is seen as one of the most important teachers of Hindu tradition. It is believed that his physical body is preserved even today in a sitting posture in the Sanctum Sanctorum dedicated to him within the temple complex.
The Ranganathaswamy temple, hailed as " Bhoologa Vaikundam" ( Heaven on Earth) is considered to be the most prominent among holy vaishnavite pilgrimage destinations of 108 Divya Desam.
3. THIRUVANAIKKAVAL
Situated 2 km wast of Srirangam, this beautiful Saivite temple is a phenomenal ancient creation and is a very popular toursit site. Thiruvanaikkaval Temple is one of the Panchabjoota Sthalams ( signifying the 5 natural elements) and represents water . The sanctum of Lord Jambukeswara has an underground water stream and one can see water coming out of that stream. Deity is Lord Siva and the goddess is Sree Akilandeswari.
4. KALLANAI ( GRAND ANAICUT)
It is not an everyday phenomenon that one comes across an engineering marvel dating back to ages. Kallanai is an ancient dam which is functional even today, is built across the Kaveri River. The dam was originally constructed by the Chola King Karikalan around 2nd century and is considered to be one of the oldest water diversion or water regulator structure in the world.
5. ST LOURDE'S CHURCH
The remarkable feat of Indian craftsmanship and stained glass paintings dedicated to our lady of Lourdes is a feast to the eyes at the St.Lourde Church. The divine precincts of the hallowed Church of our Lady of Lourdes at the heart of St Joseph's College, presents a fascinating architecture as it is a replica of our Lady of Lourdes Church, France. The architectural style is Neo Cothic built in 19th century. The spire of the Church is 200 ft high and can be seen from 8km radius. The church top rises 62 feet above the nave and the Chimney Bell is a t a height of 90 feet.

6. HAZRATH NATHERVALL DARGAH
It is a tomb where a sufi saint Hazrath Natherrvali rests. Hazrath Nathervali is from Turkish origin who came to Trichy with 900 disciples to spread Islam in a South India and Sri Lanka in 11th century. The beautiful 70 foot dome where the saint lies interred was built by Muslim King Chandha Sahib. This Dargah is famous for Urs festival held on 14th day of the month of Ramzan every year and is well attended people at all faiths. The Holy Quran, Handwritten on Parchment by Hazrath Nathervali is kept here. A place is marked where Hazrath Qadir Wali of Nagore Sharif sat for 40 days (chilla) . A visit to this Dargah will help me find happiness within the confines of one's own mind.
7. THIRUVELLARAI
Located about 20kms North of Trichy , on the way to Thuraiyur, Thiruvellarai temple is housed on a 14 acre property. The Pundarikatshan Perumal Temple in Thiruvellarai, a village in the outskirts of Trichy is a Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is one of the 108 Divya Desam . The swastik shaped temple tank ( must visit) built during the 8th century is present in the street around the temple. It has 4 stepped gateways , each having 51 steps. There is a nearby cave temple carved out of a rock known as Swedhagiri where Lord Siva, known as " Vada Jambunathar' and Pundarikatshan are enshrined. The architectural beauty is a gateway to peace and tranquility.
8. TIRUPATTUR
A new destiny awaits the visitor fo Sro Brahmapureerswara Temple at Siruganur, Tirupattur. Though a Shiva Temple, there is a six feet tall idol of Lord Brahmma sitting on a lotus flower in Padmasana ( Yoga posture)
This is a temple which believed to change the destiny of the worshipper . The destiny of Lord Brahma is believed to have been changed by Lord Shiva. The Shodasalings ( with 16 strips) worshipped by Lord Brahma is placed in a separate hall in the temple. This is the palce where Lord Shiva relieved Lord Brahma of a curse. Another important feature of this temple is the Jeeva Samadhies of saints Padhanjali and Vyakrapadhar.
