KHE GA LIGHTHOUSE ( A HUNDRED YEAR LIGHT)
Khe Ga Lighthouse , also known as Ke Ga Lighthouse is located at Thuan Quy Commune , Ham Thuan Nam District , from Phan Thiet City about 30 kilometres to the South. The reason for this name is that the lighthouse is located on a promontory of about 500 meters to the sea looked like a chicken's head.
Khe Ga Lighthouse was being built from 1897 to 1899 wit design of the French architect Chnavat . This lighthouse was made entirely of marble material with the height of 65 meters compared to sea level , which is considered one of the highest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam and in Southeast Asia.
On the tower , there is a 2000 w lamp used as signal light guiding ships and boats . At night, the lamp illuminates as far as 22 knots. Below the tower there is a square house with 40 meters for each side., a 3 depth water tank used for employees working in the tower. Inside the tower, 184 steel spiral stair steps lead to the top of the tower.
Nowadays , the lighthouse is not only a unique architectural relic but also associated with Khe Ga Island to form beautiful landscape for tourists. From the lighthouse tower, a vision of panoramic Ta Cu Mountain along with vast blue sea is presented .All of which give visitors a surprisingly peaceful and quite feeling.
