THAILAND PATTAYA- RANONG - BEACHES & ISLANDS

1. HAT LAEM CHAROEN
Located 5 kms  from Rayong town, the beach is not for its seafood restaurants

2. HOT MAE RAMPHUENG
This 10 km , stretch of sand, located 12 kms from town on the way  to Ban Kon Ao, is a good place to enjoy swimming

3. BAN PHE
One of the province's major fishing communities, about 19 km from town . Ban Phe is also the main embarkation point for the ferry to Ko Samet. Visitors can also find fresh and dried food to buy here.

4. KO SAMET
Located within the Khao Laem Ya Muko Samet National Park and 6.5 kms off the mainland, the island of Ko Samet is Rayong's most popular destination. Covering the area of 6.62 sq kms. Ko Samet is blessed with lovely scenery as well as beaches and is easily accessible. Triangular shaped , most of the land area is forested with beaches dotting intermittently on the north and east side of the island. The south side tapers into the sea with small isles of rocky formations offshore serving as a habitat and egg laying grounds for seagulls. A considerable range of accommodation is available . There are daily ferries to Ko Samet from 6 am to 5 pm and the trip takes about 30 minutes . 5. SUAN SON
About 4 kms from Ban Phe and 29 kms from Rayong town are white sandy beaches and picnic areas called Suan Son.

6. SUAN WANG KAEO
Some 11 kms  beyond Suan Son are more beaches with bungalows, it is open from 8 am - 5 pm

7. LAEM MAE PHIM
A little over 11 kms from Suan Wang Kaeo and 45 kms from Rayong town is Laem Mae Phim, a pleasant location for swimming and relaxation . 5 kilometres  further on from Laem Mae Phim along the beach road is the Sunthon Phu Memorial which honours Thailand's leading poet in the early part of the Rattanakosin Era.
