THAILAND PATTAYA- RANONG - CITY ATTRACTIONS

1. THE SHRINE OF KING TAKSIN THE GREAT
Located in the grounds of Wat Lam Mahachai Chumphon,the Shrine marks the spot where General , later King Taksin the Great and followers once made camp after the fall of Ayutthaya n the late 18th century. Within the Shrine is a standing statue of the great monarch, while the 300 years old Statue tree is believed to be the very tree to which King Taksin once tethered his elephant.

2. WAT PA PRADU
The temple, located on Sukhumvit Road, enshrines a 12 meter long image of the reclining Buddha, unusual in that figure is depicted on the left side instead of the more usual right.

3. CITY PILLAR SHRINE
Rayong's City Pillar, on Lak Mueang Road, comprises 2 buildings constructed in , respectively Thai and Chinese architectural styles.

4. WAT PAK NAM
Also known as Wat Samut Khongkha , the temple is about 2 kms, south of town and is notable for  its ancient 10 metre high white pagoda on an island in the Rayong River. Celebrations are held on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month with ceremonies, boat races and other forms of entertainment.

5. SI MUEANG PARK
This public park, in the town centre behind the city pillar, houses the highly revered Phra Phuttha Angkhirot image, the town's principal statue.

6. RAYONG AQUARIUM
This aquarium consists of 3 parts, which are the aquatic marine life hall, shell museum and exhibition hall. Open from Wednesday to Friday 10 am - 4 pm and 10 am -  5 pm on weekends.

7.YOM CHINDA ROAD
Beautiful old buildings and houses on Yon Chinda Road, the historical road of Rayong are well kept in its original form to illustrate the glory of this road in the past. Visitors can step back in time and explore the simple way of life of the local people through restaurants, coffee shops  and other shops.
