PRAYING FOR FISH FESTIVAL
Praying for fish is a folk festival associated with religious beliefs and lives of Central Coast residents. In Binh Thuan, the festival can be found in almost Dinh Van ( temples) worshiping Ong fishes ( Sir - referring to whales in a respectful way) thoroughout the province. Praying for fish festival vividly describes the traditional customs to worship Ong fishes according to legendary folklores.
Praying for Fish Festival at Van Thuy Tu Temple, Phan Thiet City often takes place on 29th of the 6th lunar month annually and has become a traditional festival of the local people. At the festival, people celebrate with many solemn rites. Besides in festival part, they often sing BA TRAO or BOI udring ceremony
The worships , sacrifices, festivals organised at the Van ( temples ) are aimed to bring people to their roots with the ancestor of fishing and tighten mutual fraternity.
