Aqueduct was designed at the beginning of the reign of King Filipe I by Pedro Fernandes Torres and the works began in 1957 with the purpose of channeling the water from 4 different springs, located near the city of Tomar, to the Convent of Christ, The structure is like that of the aqueduct extends for about 6 kilometres, consisting of a total of 180 perfect back arcs. In the valley of greater slope, the valley of Pegoes, it rests on a set of 16 broken arches, creating a structure of great magnificence and beauty.
