Deoksugung Palace was first built as a royal residence, but it became a palace when the king stayed there after the Japanese Invasion in 1592. Western style buildings were built here during the Japanese colonial period , making it the only palace with modern buildings.
Seokjojeon, one of these modern buildings , now accommodates the National Museum of Contemporary Art.

This a lawn plaza in front of Seoul City Hall. Here, various events including mini concerts , outdoor exhibitions and flea markets are held every weekend.During winter, a skating rink is set up for visitors to enjoy ice skating at a reasonable price.
