TAIWAN KAOHSIUNG - MEINONG DISTRICT

Meinong is located in Kaohsiung 's northeastern corner. More than 90% of the town's residents are of the Hakka Ethnic group. The Hakka people put a strong emphasis on their education and cultural inheritance , so Meinong Hakka work hard to preserve the district's abundant relics, heritage sites , traditional foods and natural environment , making the area one of Kaohsiung's most popular tourist attraction.

1. Meinong Hakka Culture Musuem
The Meinong Hakka Culture Museum exhibits center on the Meinong Hakka immigration  history and includes traditional clothes, foods, cultural objects and models, as well as drama presentations and multimedia stations that allow visitors to experience Hakka culture and customs firsthand. Beside the museum lies Jhongjheng Lake. Many kinds of birds and other wildlife can be found here making the area attraction for bird watchers and nature lovers. In addition, locals often fish and relax by the lake and enjoy Meinong's leisurely atmosphere and tranquility.

2. Jhonglihe Memorial Hall
Jhonglihe was Hakka writer who created many classic of Taiwanese literature. The writer memorial hall is located at the foot of Jian Mountain near Meinong where he spent his old age writing. visitors can read the steles erected by the garden trail on which are inscribed many works from Taiwanese writers. in the hall, Jhonglihe's literary creations and information about other Taiwanese writers are on display, giving the building a literary and humanistic atmosphere.

3. Meinong East Gate
The Meinong east gate was originally built in 250 years ago as a watch tower for the area's defense . after being destroyed twice, it was rebuilt in the Chinese classic style with a dragon pavilion and phoenix eaves. The couplets carved on the pillars describe the neighborhood of the gate and Meinong's environment and scenes. visitors can appreciate both the Gate's historic significance and its artistic design.

4. Hakka Food
Rice noodles and pig knuckles are the most well known among traditional Hakka cuisines in Meinong. In addition to traditional fare, the Hakka  people in Meinong have also developed new and creative dishes such as rice noodle , sushi, vegetable roll , white water , snowflakes , pork intestine with shredded ginger are other Delicious Hakka dishes that visitors should taste.

5. Hakka Blue Shirt & Paper Umbrella  
Blue shirts dyed with a blue coloring extracted from natural plants have been a part of traditional Hakka dress since the early days. The garment's durability os an example of the Hakka people's thrift and diligence.
Paper Umbrellas , a traditional Hakka symbol of auspiciousness and prosperity , are sent by friends and relatives for a boy's coming of age ceremony or a girl's wedding day.
Blue shirt and paper umbrellas are the most representative among Meinong's traditional cultural goods.
