Millions of years ago , Jiashan lay under the sea. It was uplifted during a catastrophic earthquake caused by the crustal movements and is now one of the most significant and productive fossil beds in Taiwan. The Jiasian Fossil Museum displays many fossils of marine life with a special emphasis on ancient shellfish. Visitors can see over 3 thousand precious fossils and collect fossils at the river with instruction from museum staff.
