Sharia Tourism has become a new approach introduced by local
government in order to boost up Lombok Sumbawa tourism industry. In national
wide view, this new subsector has also become one of the most featured fields
of central government .Yet, the government still needs to ensure the
availability of the kinds of facilities required by Moslem travelers,
especially for those designated as the sharia destinations. Among others, food
is the most underlined issue to uphold this subsector. It is necessary to
ensure the numbers of restaurants offering HALAL ( legal) foods for the
travelers.
Especially for those who run business of accommodation, Moslem
travelers require a lot of kitchens for Halal and non halal foods. This should
be one priority to be prepared by any sharia destination to serve their Moslem
guests with comfortable stay.
Moslem travelers mostly concern about water supply around a
destination. Whereas, many hotels and luxurious malls adopt western interior
design where visitors or guests only get tissue in the toilet and no water
provided in the lavatory, whilst , water is a compulsory thing for Moslems to
cleanse after a toilet activity.
At the same time, they are not worrying about facilities in
public destinations. Sharia tourism is not always dealing with religion in
narrow sense. Access to conduct worshipping is indeed an important issue,
including hotel ‘facilities dealing with ion for worshipping such as Masjid and
musholla (smaller facilities than masjid), a considerable aspect for Moslem
travelers. However, they also need to visit various objects from nature. In
designing a tour package, it is most important to pay attention to prayer times
(time keeping).
Rising awareness of local business have supported this new
paradigm of tourism. All accommodation services above provide various
facilities and policy, such as HALAL food warranty, worshipping spots,
direction sign to Mecca in each room, as well as other equipment to serve their
worship.
Lombok gives serious concern to Moslem travelers visiting
the island. As the majority, Moslem inhabitants can give comfort for Moslem
travelers to enjoy Halal food across the land. Any restaurants in all regencies
can guarantee for halal services, since business owner and employees are
Moslems too. It is easy to find Moslem restaurant in public facilities, tourist
destinations and other business center.
