Hortus Malabaricas of ( The Garden of
Malabar). In this treatise on 78 rare plant species found in Kerala, Van Rheede
points out that many valuable drugs used in European cities, were actually made
from medicinal plant’s of Malabar.

Ancient texts prescribe the monsoon season (June- August) as
