CHODANG TOFU, A TRADITON PASSED ON FOR 400 YEARS
Chodang tofu was first made in the Chodang village of
Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province and has a history of 400 years. East Sea is used
as bittern.This is why Chodang tofu is tastier and softer than the ordinary
tofu. Villagers have passes on their wisdom and skills in making delicious tofu
for generations.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
The Chodang is a small and beautiful village surrounded by a
forest of pine trees more than 500 years old. As you walk through the forest
you will stumble upon beautiful hanok (traditional Korean House). This is the
birth place of Heo Nanseolheon, a famous female poet of the Joseon Dynasty. The
village is also 10 minutes on foot from the clean and refreshing Gyeongpoho
Lake. Famous historic sites such as Seongyojang, Gyeongpodae and Ojukheon are
only a 10 minute drive from the village.
